Ever get a call from someone you know you don't want to talk to? The folks at San Francisco-based Moderati, the makers of the ring tones dubbed "DisTones," say they've got a solution for dealing with dreaded callers.
The company's tag line is "Nothing says 'I hate you' like a DisTone from ModTones." Once you hear the customized DisTone, you know its from a caller that you've branded, whether a stalker or an ex-girlfriend or boyfriend. There's a selection of songs such as "American Idiot," "Shut Up," and "F.U." which cell phone owners can assign to the phone numbers of callers. The ultimate "dis" is a silent tone that automatically sends the caller into voice mail without actually ringing the phone.
"A lot of people are passive aggressive," says Cindy Mesaros, vice president of marketing. "They don't want to pick up a call from someone they can't stand."
The tones cost $1.99 each. For more information, go to www.distones.com
