Jon Vlassopulos, the media executive who walked from his post as senior VP of digital media and branded entertainment at Endemol USA last month, has resurfaced at a San Francisco firm as CEO.
Vlassopulos has joined Bellrock Media subsidiary Moderati, and will oversee the company's new initiatives in branded entertainment, digital entertainment services and mobile. He has also been appointed general manager for Bellrock in North America.
"It is clear that the future of digital media and advertising are blending," said Vlassopulos. "The team at Moderati have done a great job so far and I look forward to building on the foundation they have put in place."
Vlassopulos will be working with Moderati's co-founder and senior VP of marketing, Cindy Mesaros, and will be based at its headquarters in San Francisco, California. C21 revealed he was leaving Endemol last month.
Founded in 2001 and acquired by Japan-backed Bellrock in February 2007, Moderati is in the on-deck mobile content aggregation business. It is perhaps best-known for its Virtual Zippo Lighter for the iPhone, which has seen more than 600,000 downloads.
