With so many restaurants, clubs, arenas and other venues going non-smoking, brands that make their money from consumers' nicotine addictions are searching for new ways to market themselves.

Zippo, the lighter company, has found a really cool one.

The company, which has been selling lighters since 1932, has gone virtual. Through a partnership with mobile content provider Moderati, Zippo now offers the Virtual Zippo Lighter for the iPhone.

The free app mimics the actions of the real thing. It opens with a flick of the wrist, lights with a turn of the flint wheel and has a flame that sways as you move the phone back and forth. And, unlike many lighters, it's truly windproof - and won't burn anyone's hair when you wave it at a rock concert
