Get a glimpse of Instagram’s newest video-sharing feature
Good news to all Instagrammers! Instagram’s latest feature Live Stories is now available to everyone around the world.
Instagram Live Stories is a live video streaming feature that’s part of Instagram’s Stories. It’s somewhat similar to Facebook Live, but with Instagram Live Stories, the live videos self-destruct after 24 hours.
To get Instagram Live Stories, all you need to do is update your app to version 10.0 or above. This works for both iOS and Android.
Instagram Live Stories is super easy to use. To start going live, simply swipe right from the main Instagram feed and select Start Live Video. You can also swipe left along the bottom of the screen to activate videos, and then go from Normal to Live.
To select the audience who can watch your Live Stories, you can change the story settings in your Profile to “Hide Story From.” This hides your story from specific people you choose.
Comments and Likes are also enabled with Live Stories. You can choose to pin comments that you like and hide comments that you don’t like. You can also choose to turn off comments altogether. To do this, tap the three dots at the bottom right corner labelled Comment and then choose turn off comments.
To watch someone else’s Live Stories, go to the Top Live option on Explore. Note that you won’t be able to watch your friends’ live video unless you’re on Instagram when the video is still broadcasting. If you’re on Instagram and a friend’s Live Stories is broadcasting, the video will be listed at the top of your main feed. People who follow you will immediately get a notification when you post a live video.
To share a Live Stories video, whether it’s your own or someone else’s, you can use Instagram Direct to send it as a direct message to your friends. Note that you cannot share a story once live streaming has ended.
That covers all we need to know about Live Stories. Enjoy!
